The 40th Annual Whale of a Run is an official Whaling Days Festival event. All proceeds and donations benefit Meals on Wheels Kitsap.
Come celebrate the 40th Annual Whale of a Run on Saturday, July 30, 2022 in Silverdale, Washington. Featured events include:
4-mile race (gun start with chip-timed finish)
1-mile run/walk (gun start with chip-timed finish)
Kids dashes
Special Olympics dashes

EVENT: 4-MILE RACE
COURSE: Start at the intersection of Kitsap Mall Boulevard and Silverdale Way, prior to the parade. Run along Silverdale Way parade route, continuing on Newberry Hill Road under overpass to Provost Road. Turn right and proceed to Anderson Hill Road. Turn right at Anderson Hill Road and follow to Silverdale Way. Turn left and finish at Silverdale Antiques in front of parade review stand. Course closes at 9:20am.
AWARDS: Plaques, hats and whales to the first male and female finishers overall. Hats and whales to division winners. (One award per runner.) Distinctive medals to first 400 finishers.

COURSE: Start on Silverdale Way in front of the Poplars Great Clips. Run parade route along Silverdale Way to Carlton Avenue. Turn left and proceed to Linder Way. Stay on Linder Way back to Silverdale Way. Turn right and finish at Silverdale Antiques in front of parade review stand. Course closes at 9:10am.
AWARDS: Plaques, hats and whales to the first male and female finishers overall. Hats and whales to division winners. (One award per runner.) Distinctive medals to first 200 finishers.

Race Packet Pick-up & Registration
Early packet pick-up and in-person registration on Friday, July 29 from 4:00-7:00pm at Silverdale United Methodist Church parking lot.
Day of race packet pick-up and in-person registration from 6:45-8:15am at Silverdale United Methodist Church parking lot.
Refreshments
Variety of fresh fruit, water and special treats will be provided by local businesses at the Finish Line.
Facilities
Restrooms and water available at registration and finish line.
Awards & Prizes
Awards ceremony and random prize drawing will begin after the Kids and Special Olympics Dashes. Great gifts from local businesses are up for grabs. Prize winners must be present to win.

Where does the run start?
The 4-mile run starts at the corner of Silverdale Way and Kitsap Mall Blvd. the 1-mile
run/walk starts on Silverdale Way in front of the Poplars Great Clips.
Is it hilly?
No for the 1-mile run/walk. The 4-mile race is a challenging course with a fast finish.
Where is the finish?

Is there a parade/festival?
Yes. Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. Whaling Days Festival is July 29-31 at the

Where can I park?
There is ample parking throughout the area, however, please consider the parade's
route and start time.
Is there water along the course?
Yes, on the 4-mile route at 2-3/4 mile.
Can I walk the races?
Yes, but please keep in mind that the 4-mile course will close at 9:20 a.m.
