Tim’s Place is the new adult activity program starting up at Trinity United Methodist Church, in Sequim.
Tim’s Place, is starting as a respite ministry, for those living with memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimer’s.
The program is designed to give respite to caregivers, while providing a safe, stimulating environment for the participants.
Tim’s Place will have activities such as games, art, music, pet therapy, and chair exercises, and will include a hot lunch catered by Shipley Center. The program is launching Aug. 13th, and will be running every Tues and Thurs from 10am -2pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave, Sequim. Cost is $35 per day.
Tim's Place is just starting out, and as of now they have over 35 volunteers who will be background checked and trained to deal with their participants needs. The program will start with 10 volunteers & four participants to keep the atmosphere upbeat and inviting. As we grow, they want to keep the ratio to two or three participants for every volunteer.
Those interested in participating need to contact Rhonda Heyn (see information below) to fill out medical history, and release forms. They aren’t a medical program, just a social one, so participants need to be able to ambulate, feed themselves, and use the restroom on their own.
They only have space for about 10 participants per day, so as they grow they plan on adding days to their schedule, and eventually move into a bigger space when necessary.
Flyers are available at the church office if you want to pick one up. Please watch the video link below. It is a program currently running in Montgomery, AL which Tim's Place is implementing here in Sequim. Rhonda went to their Director training in Feb., and was very inspired by this innovative program. This video will give you a good understanding of what they are going to be doing here Sequim.
