Park View Villas to Host Breakfast Fundraiser for Forks VFW

There will be homemade cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit compote to spoon over Gold Star Pancakes, and a selection of side dishes to choose from on Sunday, February 24th, at Park View Villas – and all proceeds from this event will benefit the Forks VFW and their project to bring a Gold Star Families Memorial to Forks.

There are currently 53 Gold Star Families Memorial Monuments around the United States, but none in Washington State. In fact, the closest is in Sparks, NV. Tom and Janet Hughes, the President and Commander respectively of the Forks VFW, began their push to bring the monument to Forks in 2018, and their goal is to host a Grand Opening for the monument in September of 2019.

Village Concepts of Port Angeles, Park View Villas, is honored to support this effort. The Gold Star Breakfast event will be the first fundraiser that the senior community will host this year. In addition to great food, musical guest Carlos Xavier will be our entertainment. Representatives from the Forks VFW will be on hand to talk about the project in detail and will bring a model of the monument.

Beth Pratt, Community Relations Director at Park View Villas, said, “All of us are excited to host this event, and I am working on at least one more this spring, to help fund this project. But let’s start with breakfast! Our kitchen is ready to make it special for our guests, including making homemade cinnamon rolls. And, our residents love to be hosts to our neighbors. Many of them have either served in the military, or their children have – there are several who come from Gold Star Families themselves.”

The donation is only $10 per person ($7 for seniors), to dine. There will be a donation jar for those who wish to contribute more, and a number of local businesses have offered to donate prize baskets to raffle off.

No reservation is required! Come to Park View Villas, at the corner of West G & 8th Streets in Port Angeles, between 7:30 and 10 AM on Sunday, February 24th, and plan to enjoy a delicious morning among friends and neighbors.
