Why Are Reverse Mortgages Growing in Popularity?

Today's reverse mortgage applicant isn't the desperate homeowner you might assume. Home equity conversion mortgages (HECMs) are becoming popular with homeowners 62 or older, who don't need one in the traditional sense, but want to use the funds as part of their overall financial plan for retirement.

Joan Qvigstad, is a reverse mortgage specialist and she will lead the discussion about HECM's. Her online presentation will highlight six reasons for the loans’ increase in popularity. For the last decade, Qvigstad has been helping individuals and families access their homes’ equity to improve their quality of life and plan for a secure future.

Topic: Preparing for a Potential Fall or Emergency

No one wants to believe they’ll never need help in the event of a nasty fall or life threatening emergency.  But we’ve all heard accounts of people who wished they had prepared better for that possibility.

This month, Cheri McEssay of UnaliWear will introduce a fall detection and medical-alert watch that is voice-controlled and can communicate with a live emergency operator in seconds. She will show online seminar participants how the device keeps the wearer constantly connected, without the need to remove it for charging.
